Restaurants in St Petersburg
Forget all those old jokes about Russian cuisine. St Petersburg is leading a revolution in culinary experiences, and most visitors are very pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of the restaurant options available.
The restaurant scene in the city is dominated by the Ginza Project restaurant group, which has over 40 concept restaurants throughout the city offering all kinds of culinary experiences in fun and fashionable surroundings. But while you're here don't be afraid to try out smaller individual restaurants too, especially some of the Caucasian and Central Asian places which provide reasonably-priced, authentic national dishes with a warm and friendly welcome. You should also look out for Russian and Ukrainian dishes to be enjoyed equally as a snack or something more substantial, whether in a top restaurant recreating Tsarist days or from a fast casual chain outlet. Finally, if you're visiting in the summer months, be sure to find one of the many outside decks or terraces to take advantage of the long nights. Sitting outside on a midsummer night, enjoying a cold beer and seafood, watching the world go by, is one of those memorable moments that will stay with you for a lifetime!
