Dacha Na Zalive
St Petersburg
At a glance
Dacha Na Zalive is a restaurant in Repino, on the coastal side of St Petersburg, set in a historic country house beside the Gulf of Finland. The building was once the dacha of Anna Vyrubova, a lady-in-waiting to Empress Alexandra Feodorovna. Its interiors retain the character of an early twentieth-century estate while adding a polished restaurant setting.
The rooms combine substantial wooden sideboards, checked armchairs, retro lamps and white tablecloths. Windows look towards the Gulf, bringing the coastal setting into the dining rooms. Several halls give the estate a range of atmospheres, from traditional and intimate to more open and family-oriented.
The cooking focuses on familiar Russian country food made in the style of a generous home kitchen. The menu includes handmade dumplings, pies, borscht and doughnuts, with an emphasis on straightforward, filling dishes and traditional recipes. A separate children's menu is available, alongside cocktail and drinks lists.
The grounds are part of the restaurant experience. A lawn leads towards the water, while the estate also includes a garden, old balconies, secluded corners, an apple orchard, a pond and a tower known as the Kissing Tower. Seasonal terraces extend the dining area outdoors when conditions allow. The combination of gardens, water and historic architecture creates a setting suited to a slow meal rather than a quick stop.
Families have extra reasons to visit, including a children's attic and a small contact zoo on the grounds. At the same time, the dining rooms, coastal views and evening atmosphere make the restaurant appropriate for unhurried adult dinners, celebrations and gatherings. The overall style is warm, nostalgic and deliberately connected to the idea of Russian country-house life.
Dacha Na Zalive is reached at 448 Primorskoye Highway in Repino. Table reservations are available through the restaurant, and the venue also provides delivery. The estate is especially well suited to meals that include time for a walk around the grounds before or after dining.
