An unexpected find if you're coming for the football, and worth a trip over from the historic center or Vasilievsky ostrov, this comfortable, homely, yet stylish restaurant is on a barge floating on a lake, moored to the embankment in the shadow of the Petrovsky stadium and its towering floodlights. The menu has been developed by head chef Sergey Pronin and is wide-ranging and eclectic: salads, Italian starters, shashliks, wok dishes, encompassing the best of European, Uzbek and pan-Asian cooking. There are regular specials and musical performances too. You might even spot one of the Zenit stars such as Arshavin, who regularly dine here. So come for a quick snack or a more relaxed meal in invigorating and romantic surroundings. Sitting on the verandah overlooking the lake, watching the fish leaping out of the water and enjoying a glass of chilled white wine or a kalyan, you'll have to keep reminding yourself you're in the heart of a big city.
