The blue cobalt net design is the classic Imperial Porcelain design, and a small vase or dish can be purchased for as little as RUB500 (about GBP10 or EUR12). They come boxed and wrapped and make the perfect gift for mum or granny, girlfriend or wife!
With several stores dotted around the city, and porcelain available at souvenir store distributors too, you won't want to miss the opportunity to pick up a surprisingly affordable piece of history. There are classic designs to chose from, the same ones used by the Tsars, Soviet-themed, and contemporary. Orders can be shipped home. The factory tour is also worth doing to better understand what makes porcelain so special. Most stores are open from 10:00 to around 21:00.
