Make sure to book in advance to get a table in the music room - as the name suggests, there are only 48 places and they book up fast! Our favorite on the menu is the chernaya treska (black cod), a cold water fish that is prepared here with ginger and Asian spices and will melt in your mouth.
One of our favorite spots in the city, 48 Chairs is spread across two rooms on the ground floor of a mansion just off Nevskiy prospekt. Here you can experience all the glamour of the Jazz Age, with the interior decorated in dark woods, parquet floor and striped wallpaper and adorned with photos of jazz stars across the ages. The first room houses a long bar while the second includes the eponymous 48 places for dinner and a small stage where an eclectic range of jazz musicians are invited to play every night of the week.
The atmosphere is sophisticated but not stuffy, the menu is wide-ranging and interesting (our recommendation: the black cod or chernaya treska, which will literally melt in your mouth) and the music is top notch. Great for dates, dinner with friends, or simply lovers of live music.
